Eagle Scout Project

To achieve rank of Eagle Scout in Radnor Troop 284, one of the many requirements was to complete service project that benefits the community. I decided to restore a broken and run down bird sanctuary at a local elementary school. The project required me to raise funds for materials, rally my fellow scouts to help, and organize the work days to ensure completion. One challenge I faced was trying to rally workers to help during summer vacations and in the heat of the day. I recruited volunteers by being diligent in my requests and provided incentives to get people to volunteer. I provided snacks and reminded them that helping me with the project counted towards community service hours, an essential requirement for each rank of boy scouts. Also my involvement over previous years helping other scouts with their projects also made it easier to gain their help.
